Early Childhood Development Birth to Age 8
This course explores the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of children from birth to age eight through the lens of key developmental theories. Students will learn to assess developmental milestones and individual variations using observation and assessment tools to inform effective, individualized instructional practices. Emphasizing developmentally appropriate practice (DAP), the course prepares students to design educational strategies that support the holistic growth of young children in diverse early childhood settings.
