Mission

Dunlap–Stone University (DSU) strives to offer the highest quality distance education to adult learners by offering Professionally Significant Degrees®, innovative courses and a student–centered experience in alignment with our commitment to honor, distinction and excellence in higher education.

The mission is reviewed and either affirmed or amended annually by the Board of Trustees. Last affirmed in February 2025.

Vision

Dunlap–Stone University provides industry–relevant educational programs that help our students meet their personal and professional goals.

Institutional Goals

The following are the educational goals for the organization:

  • DSU offers high-quality distance education programs that meet the needs of our students.
  • DSU operates effectively and efficiently as an institution of higher education.
  • DSU evolves as an institution through the development of its staff, faculty and technology.
  • DSU engages in community building practices that align with our values of relevance and trustworthiness that center our students.

These goals are a part of the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan.

 

Institutional Outcomes

DSU has set the following academic outcomes across the institution:

  • DSU-1 Students will demonstrate the ability to apply program-specific knowledge, skills, and methodologies to real-world professional contexts.
  • DSU-2 Students will communicate clearly and professionally in written, oral, and digital formats appropriate to their field of study.
  • DSU-3 Students will analyze information, evaluate alternatives, and develop reasoned solutions to discipline-specific and interdisciplinary challenges.
  • DSU-4 Students will demonstrate awareness of ethical principles, cultural diversity, and the impact of decisions on professional and societal outcomes.
  • DSU-5 Students will engage in reflective learning and demonstrate the ability to independently acquire and apply new knowledge and skills.
